I'll have three dogs this weekend. I'd like to bring them all to this walk, but I can't walk all three at once. So if anyone is without a dog to walk, I can lend out Lucy which will leave me trying to grapple with just Moss and Sasha.

The hounds were great to watch - Teign makes you laugh - and I also like the choice of music - from my era! - particularly The Kinks and The Rolling Stones. Looking forward to seeing them live - perhaps on August 12th?
Display Team doing their thing
« Result #8 on Jul 25, 2012, 1:15pm »
As they have done for a few years now, Greyhound Walks Display Team continue to go out and about to shows and fetes to help promote the rehoming of retired/rescued Greyhounds and Lurchers
They go out in cool, rainy weather ....... Cressing Village Fete
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBjptXiAu9o
and they go out in warm, dry weather ... Old Deanery Care Village
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=II2_8PwR1ic
Before and after the displays the dogs help do "Test Drives" and take people for little strolls around (if the weather isn't too wet/hot etc) which is especially good for people and children who, for whatever reason, would love a dog but can't have one.
At the Care Village they walked around to let the residents and their guests fuss the dogs and they were very popular.
These ladies, gentlemen & hounds do an absolutely splendid job of dispelling the many misconceptions that others may have about rehoming Greyhounds and Lurchers and are great Ambassadors for Greyhound Walks.

Lovely walk today, thank you to everyone who came along and great to see some new people.
Weather was very warm but nice and shaded in places for the dogs to have a drink and cool off.

I didn't have time to check this page then we'd have known about the cyclists but luckily we left early enough and there was a police car pushing his way past the bikes. Same last year.
Weather beautiful, if not a bit too hot but luckily the cafe was cooler and one of the girls from there rushed out to make sure the dogs had water. Wish everywhere was so friendly.

London to Cambridge bike ride is on tomorrow and they will be cycling along the road that leads to Lee Valley Park.
Bit of caution needed as you are approaching Lee Valley as the road is very windy and the cyclists tend to bunch up

Thanks Debbie for posting the photo of Twiggy. She looks sweet. Benny fell asleep in the car on the way home and he and Gemma made straight for their beds when we got home. All that being fussed over and being stroked tired them out! We enjoyed the great company and the weather was kind with only a handfull of small raindrops. Already looking forward to the next Farmers' Market.

Thanks to all who came along to help and support us ~ Janice and Adam, Janice (other) and Katy, Diane and Neal, Graham, Janet (oops and Andrew).
We showed Swaffham what lovely pets are houndies are and collected a bit of money too
Thank you for having us Lesley and for all the coffees. Lesley organises these markets and here is a picture of her Greyhound Twiggy especially for Graham. Lesley fell in love with Twig last time we did this market and took her home a couple of weeks later

I'm obsessed and appalled at needing my wellies in July!!! Still, at least the ground will be soft so Nina won't limp as much! Every cloud... oh, there we go with the weather again!

Have been away in 'Sunny' Norfolk for the last few days, but understand that the monsoon came last night so I predict that wellies will be needed for those attending tomorrow!

won't be there either as we're away this weekend, but if Swaffham isn't too far from where we are will call by (dog less) on my way home.
Highly recommend the food at The White Horse, and they are dog friendly Heather. Brilliant spot for a walk to as on a very short walk to the reservoir.

I had intended coming to this walk and enjoying the bluegrass music. However, Debbie needs support at the Greyhound Walks stand at the Farmers' Market in Swaffham on Sunday and Benny & Gemma have told me that they would rather play their part in "greyhounds make great pets awareness" than listen to paw-stomping music! Sorry folks, but I am 3rd in the pecking order in the Brandon Bunch! Enjoy your walk and the music, and see you all soon.

Anne and I took Peaches & Milly to check the route today and we can report that it is a little muddy and overgrown in places, with the odd stinging nettle encroaching on the path!
However providing we don't get a monsoon this week we should be OK.
Due to poor planning on my part we were unable to checkout The White Horse's fine food and drink offerings. (I will have to right this wrong on Sunday)
Hope to see plenty of you hardy walkers Sunday 11:00am

This is our 2nd Anniversary walk at Brandon Country Park!
To celebrate we are having a BYO picinic in the lovely orchard after the walk. We will have our gazebo up with teas and coffee available.
Brings some pennies to win some prizes in our special raffle, have a go at our quizz and the odd game or 2
and just relax in the shade of the trees with your hound.
Look forward to seeing everyone there

Hi, I have 2 more to add! I was at the Braintree walk and picked up a card, but I didn't get to hand it in and have just found it!! One greyhound and one lurcher please.
Sorry
So for example, I could post here that I'm currently talking to a pop star to be one of our MCs. Just got to get over the hurdle of breaking it to him that he'd be working with Andy Mr Weatherfixer Taylor. Awkward
Yes - very tricky. Whoever it is will need to be good to meet the standard I expect.
BRILLIANT! Very well done to the team this year, not sure we all appreciate what practice and how many miles you cover to represent not just Greyhound Walks but also greyhounds in general

Soraya is a member of GWDT who works for IFDS and she asked her company if they would give a donation to help the team buy audio equipment.
On Friday, members of the Display Team were invited to the Basildon office of IFDS to be presented with a cheque for £250
Big THANK YOU to IFDS for giving the team this donation and to Soraya for asking them

We will be there; looking forward to seeing our 4 & 2 legged friends and hoping that our new 3 legged friend called John will be there again. He came to the GBGW at Brandon last Sunday and won Benny & Gemma's hearts (and especially mine!).

This walk will be interesting!
On the weekend of 14th and 15th July, I am being stalked by a camera filming for the manufacturer of an injection that I take weekly, to show how little interference it has with my normal lifestyle.
One thing the film "crew" (one person!) is particularly keen to see is a greyhound walk as this is of general public interest, as well as showing how life remains normal (!) for me.
So, there will be a film camera at this walk.
Please, if anyone does NOT wish to be filmed, either deliberately or accidentally, send me a personal message and I'll ensure the camera is kept away from you. The crew is very conscious of personal privacy and does not wish to upset anyone.

We had 35 hounds walking at Brandon for the Great British Greyhound Walk and despite the downpour we had a lovely walk. Just a week later and we're back for a walk around this lovely country park and I reckon the weather will be better!!
Domino thinks it's his birthday walk (he is 9 on Friday) and Button thinks it's to celebrate her 2nd Gotcha Day (it's today)
Really looking forward to it and hope to see lots of you there.

Swaffham Farmer's Market 15 July
« Result #84 on Jun 26, 2012, 2:04pm »
We are having an awareness stand at the Farmer's Market in Swaffham on Sunday 15 July.
It is held in the Market Place, Swaffham, Norfolk PE37 7RB outside the Assembly Rooms.
We will be there between 10am - 3pm
If anyone can come along to give us some support for the whole time or just a quick hello, it would be great to see you and the extra Hounds attending would be much appreciated (Swaffham has lots of free parking).
Swaffham is a lovely little market town with pubs, cafes and chip shops and only half hour from the North Norfolk coast if you want to go up to the beach afterwards (how am I doing with the sales pitch)?
If you can come along or have any questions please post here or pm me

We still have one walk to report back but across the 67 registered walks and 6 micro walk we had 2224 greyhounds, lurchers and sighthounds walking.
Bearing in mind the dreadful weather, the Jersey walk had 66 dogs walking in torrential rain, we are absolutely thrilled
Wet Jersey Hounds!
Taking a couple of days out as the last couple of weeks have been very intense, but as Steve Kidd reminded me, not for long as we have to promote the show now!
